Shampoo bar FAQ: hard water, residue & transition

Shampoo bar FAQ

How do I wash and lather?
Wet hair and bar thoroughly. Lather in your palms or glide lightly over the scalp in sections. Massage the roots, add water if needed, then rinse well. Let the bar dry between uses. Foam varies with formula and water type.

What if hard water leaves hair coated?
Try less bar, focus on the scalp, and rinse carefully with lukewarm water. If practical, compare a filtered-water final rinse. A waxy feel may also mean too much product or incomplete rinsing; it is not a required transition stage.

What about tangles, conditioner and buildup?
Condition mid-lengths and ends if needed; keep conditioner off fine-hair roots. If buildup continues after careful rinsing, use a clarifying shampoo occasionally as directed on its label, not on a fixed schedule. Avoid DIY acidic rinses on an irritated scalp.

How long does fine hair take to adjust?
There is no set transition period. Start with a small amount at the roots and lightweight conditioner only on the ends. If hair stays heavy or tangled, change the routine rather than waiting it out.

Should I patch test, and when should I stop?
Patch test before first use, especially with scented or botanical bars, and avoid the eyes. Stop using a bar if it causes irritation, redness or discomfort; seek professional advice if symptoms continue.
